SAS is now the world’s most punctual airline

Scandinavian Airlines continued its streak as Europe’s most punctual
airline, but for August, the airline managed to grab the position as the
world’s most punctual airline. Last month, 92.82% of SAS’ 15,607 flights
arrived on time, putting SAS far ahead of its European and American
competitors. Only three Asian airlines (Korean Air Lines, ANA and Japan
Airlines) managed a punctuality record above 90%.

“We are very proud to be the most punctual airline in the world. It’s
the result of the dedication and hard work of our staff, who every day
provide our customers with that unique service, that characterize SAS.
With our innovative check-in solutions, being amongst the first airlines
to introduce Fast Track security and now being the world’s most punctual
airline, no competitor can come close to SAS in offering time-efficient
air travelling,” says John Dueholm, Deputy President and CEO of the SAS
Group.

“It is extra pleasing to see that whilst SAS is now the world’s most
punctual major airline, our Norwegian airline Widerøe is the world’s
most punctual across all airlines, both minor and major airlines.
Widerøe’s punctuality for August was an unrivalled 95.72%. So we are
extremely proud that the SAS Group holds both titles,” says Dueholm.

These on-time performance reports for worldwide carriers and airports
are generated from FlightStats Analytics. Flightstats track the
performance of over 150,000 flights per day, archive the data for
analysis and publication, and provide real time flight status to
millions of travelers worldwide each day. For more information about
Flightstats, please visit
www.flightstats.com (http://www.flightstats.com/).
Flightstats includes both regional and so called “major airlines”, which
includes SAS. SAS refers only to “major airlines” in order to give an
accurate and realistic comparison. As Flightstats monitors arrival
punctuality, the results can differ somewhat from those in SAS’ monthly
traffic reports, which focus on departure punctuality.
